The Heyvaert-Heynen Foundation was established in response to a deeply personal journey — that of building a family as a same-sex couple. Having both a “papa” and a “daddy” can be complex in a world not built for LGBTQ+ family life. Rooted in this lived experience, the Foundation is committed to advancing the rights, wellbeing, and visibility of LGBTQ+ individuals, families, and communities. Our work spans education, advocacy, mental health access, and economic opportunity — all with a focus on creating inclusive, affirming systems of support. Given the Foundation’s origin story, we place particular emphasis on initiatives that open pathways to parenthood for LGBTQ+ people. Whether through surrogacy, adoption, fertility services, or legal advocacy, we are dedicated to helping others access the possibility and pride of family. Through partnerships and philanthropic investment, the Heyvaert-Heynen Foundation strives to help build a world in which every LGBTQ+ family is not only recognized, but embraced.
